Two Layer Card: Just For You

I've been busy making gift tags, wrapping a few presents, and with the usual daily chores so I haven't had the chance to post here. I've taken photos of my new paper craft projects and will take more. I'll blog about them another day. Let me just do a bit of backtrack at this point and show you this card I made late in October, if I remember it right. This one's a two-layer card made out of scraps.

The card base is one of blank cards from a card set. The panel is kraft layering paper from our wedding guestbook (I tore off the empty pages.) The grass sticker is from a fairy castle craft kit. The embellishments (flower, Just For You sign) are from old sticker/embellishment sets.

Oh, I love it when I'm able to create something out of scraps! I feel less guilty about using paper to make crafts. ;o)

Thank-You Card for Cory

I made this thank-you card sometime in November and planned to give it to a friend who was then visiting from Thailand. But I totally forgot to bring it with me when I headed off to meet her in Makati. Oh well. I'll probably just send this to her address in Bangkok when the holiday mail rush is over. I wouldn't want this card to get lost in the mail. (I'm sorry to say that the local postal service has become less reliable through the years.)

Anyway, I was glad to have used old scrapbooking materials for this paper craft project. The light green tag, the blue card panel and the white string were bought 4 years ago, I think. The white card base, the pink deco tape, and the rubber stamp are all relatively new.

All for now. Hope you're enjoying the rest of your weekend. :)

Hand Stamped Holiday Merchandise Tags

I'd been meaning to make hand stamped tags since I got back to paper crafting last August. But it took me a while to get the right craft punch for a merchandise tag. I used an X-acto stencil for a while but I thought I needed a machine to trim the time I spend fussy-cutting. After 5 months, I finally got me a Marvy Uchida 3" Giga Craft Punch! Imagine how I went crazy punching this and that cardstock. ;o)

Anyway, I thought to make these quick and simple holiday merchandise tags for my friends Nicquee and Midge. They'll be using these hand stamped tags when they pack and sell their homebaked goodies this Christmas.

To make these tags, I punched the shapes from a single sheet of layering kraft paper. Next, I stamped sentiment (Merry Christmas) in green ink and the flowers in red ink. Then, I hole-punched the tags using a single 1/4 hole puncher.

Supplies:
  • kraft paper (Papemelroti)
  • clear stamp (Merry Christmas from the Celebrate Everyday set by Hero Arts)
  • rubber stamp (flower from the Nature Pattern rubber wooden stamp set by Funnyman)
  • craft ink (red, green by Color Me Kiss)
I so enjoyed making these holiday tags that I can't wait to make some more. Now, if you'll excuse, I have to go and feed my toddler her breakfast and then make more tags as soon as the little girl's belly is full. Have a great weekend!

Scrap Journal: Stamp and Paint

I enjoy making scrap journals because it helps me create rendering and sketch studies for many of my future artwork and crafts. Besides that, I get to test some craft supplies — paper, punches, tapes, ink, etc. — that have been lurking in my stash.

Scrap journaling is also a good way to reuse and recycle some old books/notebooks and bits and pieces of paper and what-have-you’s. To make this scrap journal, I used an old ADB planner (a gift from a friend who works at the Asian Development Bank in Manila), some gesso and a few art materials.

SUPPLIES

  • old/used office planner
  • colored index cards (green, yellow, orange)
  • acrylic gesso (white)
  • watercolor paper (Canson)
  • watercolor pencils (Faber-Castell)
  • fiber tip brown pen (Maped)
  • fine tip black pen (Uni)
  • clear stamp: flower (Love Birds set by We R Memory Keepers)
  • dye ink (orange)
  • washi tapes (plaid, green)

Handmade Birthday Card: Butterfly Buttons and Flower Bed

I made this simple card for my older sister’s birthday last month. I had limited supplies available at that time so I made do with whatever I could find in my cello bags and zip bags.

I scored an 8 1/2 x 11 white cardstock to make a card base that measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Next, I used the blank side of a green index card as card panel. Then I trimmed and adhered a scrap of patterned paper (white daisies on yellow background) to make it look like a hilly border/flower bed. Using brown ink, I stamped the sentiment (happy birthday) on the card and then adhered the butterfly buttons using adhesive dots.

That’s it. Clean and simple. ;o)

SUPPLIES
  • white cardstock (8 1/2 x 11)
  • green index card (blank on one side)
  • patterned paper (All About Scrapbooking)
  • rubber stamp: happy birthday (Korean stamp message set)
  • butterfly buttons (All About Scrapbooking)
  • adhesive dots (All About Scrapbooking)
